Vasu Gupta, B.A.

Biography

Vasu Gupta is a medical student at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, with a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. His interest in orthopedic surgery started with his own ACL tear and reconstruction after a skiing injury, which gave him firsthand exposure to the operating room, rehab, and the long arc of return to sport. At Penn, he worked in the Shorter Lab engineering RNA helicases to counteract pathological RNA phase transitions in repeat expansion disorders such as Huntington's disease. During a gap year at Columbia, he joined the Zhang Lab, characterizing the effects of conditional Ptpn14 knockout on developmental signaling in the mouse eye. He is excited to bring that research background to clinical and outcomes-based orthopedic research.
