Biography

Sean William Rockwell is a final-year medical student at Ross University School of Medicine who has completed his academic and clinical requirements and is awaiting official degree conferral. His primary interests include orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, joint reconstruction, and clinical outcomes research. He has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications involving shoulder arthroplasty, posterior shoulder instability, chondroblastoma, and other musculoskeletal conditions. His research experience also includes a retrospective matched-cohort study examining postoperative complications and revision rates following total hip arthroplasty in patients with chronic pancreatitis, submitted to the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). Through his clinical rotations and research collaborations, Sean has developed experience in scientific writing, literature synthesis, comparative analysis, and interpretation of clinical findings. He is enthusiastic about contributing to collaborative orthopedic research and participating in projects that advance evidence-based surgical care.

Research interests

My primary research interests include orthopedic sports medicine, shoulder and elbow surgery, joint reconstruction, and postoperative outcomes research. I am particularly interested in evaluating surgical techniques, postoperative complications, functional outcomes, and factors influencing patient recovery. Having participated in research involving shoulder instability, shoulder arthroplasty, musculoskeletal tumors, and total hip arthroplasty outcomes, I hope to further contribute to retrospective cohort studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and clinically relevant orthopedic research. I am also interested in sports-related injury prevention and management, particularly given my longstanding involvement in combat sports, including Brazilian jiu-jitsu, judo, boxing, and Muay Thai. I welcome opportunities to collaborate across orthopedic subspecialties and am enthusiastic about contributing to ongoing projects within the SCORE collaborative.
