Biography

Nikola Susic is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he is pursuing a Scholarly Concentration in Biomedical Engineering. His research spans musculoskeletal oncology, foot and ankle, adult reconstruction, and musculoskeletal radiology, with an emphasis on large-database outcomes analysis and the clinical translation of advanced imaging and AI tools. His oncology work evaluates limb-salvage and reconstructive strategies for lower-extremity tumors, while his foot and ankle work uses national claims data to examine how operative timing influences reoperation and wound complications after calcaneal fracture fixation. As a Research Coordinator in musculoskeletal radiology, he leads a team of medical students and coordinates collaborative projects between radiologists and orthopaedic surgeons. He has contributed to more than 15 manuscripts, including co-first-author work, and over 30 presentations at regional, national, and international meetings, including the AAOS and SIR annual meetings, with several awards for his first-author research.
