Biography

Marcelo M. Sleiman Jr. is a first year medical student at Wake Forest University School of Medicine with an interest in orthopedic surgery. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biostatistics with a minor in Psychology from the University of Virginia. Previously, he served as Program Manager of the Interventions for Managing Parenting and Cancer Team (IMPACT) at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, overseeing the Health Behavior and Cancer Prevention Lab and leading IMPACT's implementation across MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center. His research has spanned lifestyle-based cancer prevention, youth tobacco control, HPV vaccine hesitancy, cancer survivorship, the integration of novel cancer screening paradigms into clinical and public health practice, and the roles of race and ethnicity in health. He has presented at national conferences such as the American Association for Cancer Research, Society for Behavioral Medicine, and American Society of Preventive Oncology, and is grounded in a commitment to community engagement and service. He hopes to bring a patient-centered, equity-focused lens to surgical care. Outside of medicine, he enjoys motorsport, grilling and cooking, exercising, playing baseball and volleyball, surfing, and following professional sports, mixed martial arts, and Formula 1.
