Biography
Levi Kline is a first year medical student at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine with an interest in orthopedic surgery, particularly sports medicine and knee, shoulder, and ankle surgery. His interest in musculoskeletal medicine grew out of his time as a collegiate soccer player, where he developed a firsthand appreciation for sports related injuries. His primary research experience is in the Clara Moore Lab at Franklin & Marshall College, where he studied prenatal long bone development in a Down syndrome mouse model using TUNEL assays, confocal microscopy, and ImageJ based apoptosis analysis; this work is currently being prepared for publication. He has also conducted research on fetal alcohol syndrome's effects on avian brain development and on stress-induced protein expression in marine mussels, both presented at his undergraduate institution's poster fair. Levi is looking to expand his experiences through SCORE and hopes to continue contributing to orthopedic research throughout medical school.
